Facilities and Equipment

  • DRX 9000 True Spinal Decompression

In addition to many services offered, Drs. Hiller and Verna incorporate the treatment option of the FDA-cleared Axiom Worldwide DRX9000 True Spinal DecompressionTMand implement the non-surgical spinal decompression researched protocols for back pain sufferers.  Drs. Hiller and Verna are the first doctors in Chester County to implement the DRX9000TMsystem in an outpatient center.  By combining proven scientific principles, along with advanced technology, the DRX9000TM decompresses lumbar discs and facet joints relieving pressure on the spinal nerves caused by disc herniations, degenerative disc disease, sciatic neuralgia and/or posterior facet syndrome.  Unlike traditional traction, which pulls both muscle and spinal elements, the DRX9000TM applies forces to decrease intradiscal pressure and enhance fluid diffusion to the disc.  Expanding the space between the bones restores nutrients and blood flow to the disc, which promotes healing.  With the focus on cutting-edge technology and evidence-based protocols, patients suffering from herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, and other back ailments may receive an effective and affordable alternative to surgery.

There are many traction-based therapies marketed to patients and described as spinal decompression; however, the DRX9000TMis the actual and proprietary unit covered in recent publications including the December 2007 issue of Anesthesiology News which highlighted exciting research on this medical device, the publication on-line at Pain Medicine News , the media coverage on CBS 3 by Stephanie Stahl, NBC 10 news by Cherie Banks, and the September 2005 issue of “Men’s Journal.”  With the strict protocol of the DRX9000TM, patients undergo a series of only 15 to 20 treatments with each treatment session lasting from 30 to 45 minutes depending on diagnosis and medical necessity.  Following DRX9000TM treatment sessions, electrical muscle stimulation and cryotherapy (ice) are applied with structured transition to a core stabilization (physical therapy/rehabilitation) protocol.
